PEDROIA

My favorite baseball player, the Red Sox's miraculous second baseman Dustin Pedroia, just won American League MVP honors. (My second favorite player, Kevin Youkilis, came in third for MVP.)

Just two weeks back, it was Obama; now it's Pedroia... life's pretty damn good right now.

10 Contemporary Photographers

There was a brief time in college where I almost decided to give up writing and study art history. Instead of switching, I wound up simply doubling my major; my main focus was contemporary photography. Although I don't follow it nearly as much as I used to, I still love going to photography exhibits when I can and checking out artists' websites. Here are some for ten photographers whose work I really love. In alphabetical order:

Elinor Carucci

Tom Chambers

Janieta Eyre

Martine Fougeron

Anthony Goicolea

David Hilliard

Loretta Lux

Lori Nix

Joel Sternfeld

Hellen Van Meene
