Giorgio Moroder Tribute

Lately I've been listening to a bunch of recent (and recent-ish) albums that owe various degrees of debt to 1970s sequencer-heavy disco, particularly some of the music and productions of the great Giorgio Moroder. Lindstrom; Spirit Catcher; Chromeo; The Emperor Machine; Aril Brikha; The Presets; Kleerup; stuff like that. Although I know it's past time for me to write a proper "what's happening in my life lately" blog entry, I'll instead procrastinate by paying a little tribute to Moroder--who turns 70 this coming April--with a list of 21 songs/videos he produced (each of these before the mid-80s arrived and his music wimped out considerably).

(1) Donna Summer, "Love To Love You Baby" (1975):

(2) Roberta Kelly, "Zodiacs" (1977):

(3) Donna Summer, "I Feel Love" (1977):

(4) Giorgio Moroder, "First Hand Experience In Second Hand Love" (1977)--not an actual video, but a cool song nonetheless:

(5) Donna Summer, "I Remember Yesterday" (1977):

(6) Munich Machine, "It's All Wrong (But It's Alright)" (1978)--again, not an actual video:

(7) Giorgio Moroder, "Chase" (from Midnight Express) (1978):

(8) Three Degrees, "Giving Up Giving In" (1978):

(9) cool Moroder clip from German TV program (1979):

(10) Donna Summer, "Bad Girls" (1979):

(11) Sparks, "Tryouts For the Human Race" (1979):

(12) Japan, "Life In Tokyo" (1979):

(13) Giorgio Moroder, "Baby Blue" (1979):

(14) Blondie, "Call Me" (1980):

(15) Madleen Kane, "You Can" (1981):

(16) Giorgio Moroder, "Leopard Tree Dream" (from Cat People) (1982):

(17) Deborah Harry, "Rush Rush" (1983):

(18) Berlin, "No More Words" (1984):

(19) Giorgio Moroder with Philip Oakey, "Together In Electric Dreams" (1984):

(20) Freddie Mercury, "Love Kills" (1984):

(21) Sigue Sigue Sputnik, "Love Missile F1-11" (1985):

I've always wondered how you felt about Jean-Marc Cerrone. When I think Moroder, I invariably think of Cerrone. Cat People and Supernature are intertwined species in my mind.
Oh, and when Girl and the Robot was released earlier this year, I had to make a little mix (mainly Cerrone, some Moroder, plus Timo Maas feat. Kelis, and Royksopp w/ Robyn).
Here it is for your listening pleasure:
