Black Quill
Hey, I just won an award for We Disappear. It's the "Editor's Choice" award for "Dark Genre Novel of the Year" from Dark Scribe Magazine. There's more information here. I'm pretty psyched about this.
I'll be back soon with an update on other things happening in my life at present....

You deserve the recognition. I just read your book We Disappear last night and finished it this morning. I am here at the library to get Mysterious Skin and will "disappear" for another 12 or so hours to ravenously inhale that one. I am confident it will meet my high expectations. You had me breaking down in tears when Donna died. Every word on page 285 and 286 transported me right back to the night my own mom died. Details of that night, more than I have shared or remembered recently, were once again sitting on my chest shoving out the tears. I thought to myself, once finishing the book, this man, Scott Heim, could not have imagined these details, he must have lived them. Then I read some of the interviews at the end of the book and feel as if you are a bit defensive about that. I am not here to call into debate your talent vs experience. I truely believe you are supremely talented and wish you the very brightest success in your career. And if some of your writing is directly from your life I want to say my heart is with you. I know you lost your mom and I feel deeply for your loss.
