Ketchup Chips

Lately this blog has alternated between my favorite bands' YouTube videos and news about my forthcoming book. So today, here's a little diversion. I present to you one of my lifelong obsessions: KETCHUP CHIPS. Mmmmm.... Bet you didn't know there were so many brands.

I'm partial to Paprika Pringles. Some claim they are the same as Barbeque-flavored Pringles stateside. Those people are sorely mistaken.

I have never EVER heard of any ketchup-flavored anything until you mentioned it over lunch the other day. What country have I been living in??

i've had some, they're pretty yummy! the vinegar ones are always too salty and burn my lips.

stay away from the pringles loaded baked potato flavor chips, they taste like burnt tater skins!

in other snack news, there's now a snickers bar with extra caffene...caffeine...caffiene..ok, those ALL look wrong!

Yes, yes, ketchup chips. Or in some cases, catsup chips. They aren't that easy to find. If you search a little, at least on this coast, you might find the "Price E. Hunt" (bottom row middle) with the freaky chef on the bag, or one of the first two (the Burger King chips are apparently new, but I haven't seen or tried them). And yeah, most of these are chips with ketchupy flavor dusted on them. Believe me, the brands I've had are fantastic. I'd like to try all of these in a big taste-test.

Not only didn't I know the number of ketchup chip brands, I didn't even know ketchup chips existed.
Are they chips infused with ketchup? Are they simply standard chips (corn, potato or otherwise) which are to be dipped, after purchase, in ketchup?
Is not knowing of ketchup chips the equivalent of, say, never having heard of Fritos?
