Deval!!!!!
Time for another (brief) political aside before I get back to my usual pop culture blather and list-making. Massachusetts finally has a Democrat as governor. He's also the second-ever African American in the office in US history. After four years of living in MA, I'm actually really happy to be here. And overall, I'm pretty overjoyed with this week's election results. Not that they'll ever read this, but I wanted to say one thing to Bush/Cheney/Rove/Mehlman/Santorum et al: WHAAAHHH HAAAAHH HAAAAHHH HAAAHH HHAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Yiiieee-- capital punishment? Really? Now that's scary. Talk about the dark ages. I guess I won't commit any murders in Wisconsin again.

I guess Wisconsin fared all right, in spite of the passage of two (in my opinion) horrifying ballot measures that implemented a draconian definition of marriage (and effectively did away with state-sanctioned civil unions -- for same sex or opposite sex couples -- too) and brought back capital punishment, respectively. At least we've retained our Democrat governor who, while he wouldn't be my first choice for our state's executive office holder, is certainly better than his even-worse opponent. Oh -- and one of our U.S. Representatives is now the head of the Appropriations Committee, which will, I'm sure, translate to the heartland being overrun with glorious crystal towers and gold-paved highways (*wink*).
