Well, at least choosing 5 songs gives me a little wiggle room so that I don't have to choose only one. Here are some of mine:
The Cure: In Your House, A Forest, The Walk, Burn, Just Like Heaven
Duran Duran: Save a Prayer, Planet Earth, Come Undone, Is There Something I Should Know, Ordinary World
Siouxsie and the Banshees: Face to Face, Melt, Swimming Horses, Peek-a-boo, Dazzle
Gorillaz (any band that samples "Dawn of the Dead" is ok with me): Clint Eastwood, Every Planet We Reach is Dead, November Has Come, Hong Kong, Mutant Genius
Annie Lennox: A Thousand Beautiful Things, Don't Let it Bring You Down, Take Me to the River, Why, Train in Vain
Nine Inch Nails: Closer (Se7en re-edit), March of the Pigs, Dead Souls, Head Like a Hole, Physical

You named my favorite song for some of the groups (Blondie/Atomic; New Order/Age of Consent) but for Abba I'd have to say Waterloo is an oldie but a goodie. They ruled right out of the gate, I guess! Also the Smiths, London.
I've never heard of the game before but interestingly I was doing the exact same thing with the Beatles yesterday...all I've come up with so far are Ballad of John & Yoko and Norwegian Wood, and I still can't decide which should be #1.

I'm really, unreasonably indecisive when it comes to ranking "favorites" ... but I can say, without hesitation, that "Age of Consent" is my favorite New Order song, too. I don't know how I feel about it being used in the 'Marie Antoinette' trailers (not because I'm disinterested in the movie, but because it sort of bugs me that people will ascribe my longtime enjoyment of the track to its association with the film. I'm weird like that).
My husband and I used "Regret" as the recessional music at our wedding. Everyone assumed we were being sarcastic -- but, title aside, it really is a sweet, optimistic little song.

I like the Scissor Sister an American band there more well know in England than there: my 5 favriout songs in no particular order are:
1) I don't feel like dancing
2) She's my Man
3) I can't decide
4) Kiss you off
5) Land of a thousand words
I like all the tracks on there new Album, but those are my favriouts I like odd songs from other artists but Sicissor sister are the best band they got the number 1 Album and song at the moment, they been number 1 inm both for a good few week now.
