Spendin' Cash in NYC
Welcome to the new look of the Scott Heim weblog, now run by MovableType, set up thanks to the always genius Michael Borum.
Just a handful of days before the upcoming 2004 election. Please don't forget to vote! It's our chance to hurl the idiot back to his Texas home where he belongs. Four more years of george w. bush will no doubt mean a horrifyingly skyrocketed deficit, a very likely military draft for innocent young people, higher gas prices and less jobs, less rights for minorities-- oh, you name it. He is one step away from Satan.
But I can't waste further space on the world's biggest uneducated moron. Right now, I'm in the middle of a very brief trip to New York. I'm visiting a few friends, spending way too much money on dumb things like overpriced lunches and taxis, and getting ready to meet (tomorrow) my London pal Mark Flood. He's in DC right now, and will take the train up to New York; I'll then meet him at Penn Station and drive him back to Boston. He and Michael and I are hoping to drive up to the northern part of Vermont on Wednesday to see the swiftly exploding fall colors in the mountains there.
A few days after that, on Sunday, I'll board my favorite airline Virgin Atlantic to head off to London--my first time there in four years, which is just a travesty considering it's my favorite place in the world. The London Film Festival starts on October 20th, and for anyone reading this who might be in London during that time, Mysterious Skin plays there on Monday the 25th (at 6pm) and Tuesday the 26th (at 4pm). Come say hello to me and/or Gregg Araki, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brady Corbet, and Mary Jane Skalski!
The Festival will be a blast... hopefully I'll also have time to do some of my other favorite London things, ie go to the Covent Garden LUSH, eat at Beetroot on Berwick Street, eat at a Balti restaurant on Jack the Ripper's old haunt Brick Lane, or maybe even take a day trip to some small UK coastal town like Whitstable, where Michael and I went in 2000 and totally loved.
I'll report more when I'm back from London, or perhaps, if I have time, during the week that I'm over there.
GO RED SOX!!
AND DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!!
