I Bought a PowerBook!

Once again, I've been avoiding the task of making an entry. Good reason: I've been really busy getting my new place into shape. It's weird living in a house instead of an apartment... after years and years in cramped New York, I finally have a big room, a big workroom, and lots of shared space with my housemates Jeanne Po and David Prior. So... I returned from my housesitting summer in New York on August 26th, but I've been spending the past few weeks doing things like painting my room (the little girl who lived here before me had pink walls, and a pink bathroom with little pink hearts on the trim. I've redone it in deep blue and greenish-gray). I also bought a down comforter and a duvet cover and a rug.

And, best of all, I bought a PowerBook. I love it. I finally have OS X for Mac and the new updated MS Word and iTunes for my iPod. I've been going crazy with the latter, and I've stuck about 3000 songs on there in the past couple of weeks. Needless to say, I haven't been getting that much work done--although I've been freelance copyediting/proofreading some (just finished the new REAL WORLD: PARIS book) and have reconnected with textbook writing cohorts from the past, so I've been short fiction pieces for 9th and 10th grade reading comprehension test prep stuff.

We Disappear waits. But Michael and I are heading out to the Cape--his dad & stepmom's place again--right before my birthday (the 26th), so hopefully I'll get some work done out there again. I also want to see Lost in Translation, and I want to finally rent Irreversible and Straw Dogs, which I've never seen.

As I'd said before, filming is done on the Mysterious Skin film, and Gregg Araki is editing now. I heard from him this week, and I plan to speak more to him tomorrow... from his reports and from others I've heard, I'm getting really excited, as it sounds like all looks really great. There's a little more that Gregg needs to film in NYC, so I'm hoping to possibly go there next week for that little bit. Obviously I'm anxious to see the "based on the novel by Scott Heim" panel on the screen someday.

Our house has been having "Tuesday night Gay TV night" for the past number of weeks-- Boy Meets Boy, which is over now, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which I'm kind of embarrassed to say I love.

There's more to report, but I'm tired and a little under the weather, so I'm going to fall asleep watching the Game Show Network.
